
Zongzi is traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival which falls on the fifth day of the lunnar calendar (June 6, this year). It is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves.
In Taiwan the most popular style is southern Taiwanese zong (南部粽) wrapped with leaves of bamboo (麻竹葉) then cooked by boiling.The shape of zongzi ranges from being relatively tetrahedral in southern China to cylindrical in northern China.
Wrapping a zongzi neatly is a skill which is passed down through families, as are the recipes. Like tamale-making in Mexico and Pamonha-making in Brazil, making zongzi was a family event with everyone helping out.
Our filling will be shallot, pork, mushroom and chestnut. Each person will bring home 3 of them. You will try it right after you make it too. I will make it no matter how many people come because it can storage in the freezer.

Chef, sommelier, and author of the Chinese book “Entertaining Around the World with Miggi” will share her passion for a wide range of places, cultures, foods, and wines. In this lecture and cooking demonstration she will provide important tips for serving delicious and beautiful meals for holidays, parties, or any events. 法式冷盤–醃鮭魚Gravlax
從此「醃鮭魚」這道,大菜,就在自家廚房發生,宴請賓客再也不用煩腦。 老師將會示範全部製作過程,還有延伸的料理(早餐、開胃菜…),老師會幫忙採購新鮮的魚——-每人ㄧ整片成品帶回家。 請注意:這堂課報名日期請儘量在1/22星期四以前,因為老師要去買魚,上課那天1/25還會要再買一次。製作好的醃鮭魚可保存在冷藏室最長放2星期,建議越早吃完越好。1/22買的魚要1/26號可以開始食用,以此類推。 報名請email miggi@demeyer.org 註明參加人數及中英文大名(只用英文名,同名同姓比例太高),還有電話。 費用每人$40 + 鮭魚ㄧ片費用(剛買來時按照重量計算,我將會照原重量一片片標價) 想要兩片魚或更多的學生請寫email 報名時要註明。 報名請填寫以下表格:
